-Jennie Kay a Beauty Parlour

Questions in the meantime? ... Below is a list of our FAQ!

Is it just Jennie Kay or does she have a team?

-‐In her one chair salon, it is just Jennie Kay. For weddings and events Jennie has a team of highly talented artists and stylists that work for the beauty parlour. They are all licensed cosmetologists and or estheticians with years of experience. Several of our artists have been in the industry over 8 years. Their resumes range from New York Fashion Week, to LA movie premieres and beyond. Jennie Kay LLC only hires the best; all artists and stylists are trained by Jennie Kay herself. If Jennie Kay is unavailable for your day, one of our licensed team members may provide the services for your day.

I have called and have not received a response, is there a faster way to contact you?

-‐-We are not in the salon 7 days a week. Jennie Kay is often on location for films, weddings, photoshoots, or in with cut and color clients. We will respond to your questions as quickly as we can. Please allow 3-‐5 days for a phone response. If you would like a faster response, please email jennie@jenniekaybeauty.com and Jennie Kay or her coordinator will get back to you as soon as we can.

How do I book you for my day?

-‐After we have confirmed that your date is available, we send our Bridal Contract to you via email. You will choose desired services and send in the SIGNED & COMPLETE wedding agreement as well as a 50% retainer of all services needed. Your wedding date is ONLY secured when we have received these documents.

How do I send in a deposit?

-‐We ask that you send in ONE single check for your deposit. We will not accept multiple checks from your party, as it gets very confusing.

Are you able to accommodate large parties?

-‐Yes! We have had parties of 2 to parties of 16. We have done it all!

Do you offer discounts for large bridal parties?

-‐We do not offer discounts or sales on our on location services. Please see our bridal menu for information on prices

What if I need to add more services before the wedding?

-‐You may add additional services, however, you must inquire with us via email. We cannot guarantee these services until you have inquired, and until we have received an updated deposit (equalling 50% of total services) and an updated contract listing ALL services needed. You must send in an updated contract and deposit immediately after discussing with the beauty parlour so we may update your Aile.

When do I schedule a trial? How far in advance should I book my trial?

-‐Trials are optional. If you would like to skip your trial, you may do so, as they are not mandatory. You must book your trial through the beauty parlour. Please be aware of the following: Trials will be unavailable on weekends May through October, as we will be busy in the height of wedding season with our brides (unless there are atypical circumstances and Jennie or our artists are able to services you). We typically suggest to our brides to book their trials a bit closer to the wedding. In our experience, brides often change their minds on the look they want, so to ensure the most accurate look for you, we suggest booking closer to your date.

Do I have to have a trial, I live out of state and may not be able to come?

-‐No, you do not have to have a trial. In our experience, we do advise you to have a trial to ensure you have the best possible look for your day. It may also give you peace of mind. For example you may need clip‐in extensions to achieve the fullness you want in an updo you choose for your day...this is something we would need to address in a hair trial. *Also*, you may want to factor in scheduling your trial on the day that you apply for your marriage license in Newport (which will be a weekday), our brides often factor this in to their schedule.

Should I wash my hair before the trial?

-‐You hair styles best if it has not just been washed. It is best to wash the night before, however, if you need to wash it the day of, please ensure it is completely dry or you will be charged for the additional drying service. If you are coming in to have a blowout done, you may come with wet or dry hair.

Do you travel to my location, if so is there a travel fee?

-‐We will travel to your location if you have a minimum of 3 services being performed. If there are less than 3 services these services will be completed in the Beauty Parlour in Middletown. There is a travel fee for locations off of Aquidneck Island (Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth). The fee is a set rate and can be discussed with Jennie prior to your wedding.

At my time of booking you, I don’t know what time I need to be ready by, do I have to tell you now?
-‐Yes! This time is crucial for us to ensure you are ready in time. Jennie Kay Beauty often books more than one wedding or event in a day, and in order to stay on schedule we must know this time. Please discuss your ready by time with your photographer, as they often have a plan of when they will want to photograph you, whether they want to photograph you getting ready, putting on your gown, first look photos, etcetera.

When can I see a schedule for my wedding day?

-‐We will give you a schedule the week before your wedding. This schedule will list time slots for “updos”, “blowouts”, “makeup”, and etcetera. When you receive your schedule, please do not change the timing, as each service requires a speciAic amount of time to conclude. You will be able to plug in the members of your party in the order you desire. The bride always goes last slot labelled “bride”.

What time will you begin hair and makeup for my party & I on my wedding day?

-‐We will not give you a start time until the week before your wedding. We do this because of possible additions, travel timing, and changes that may be made. At the time we decide an allotted start time, we will send you a schedule of your day.

Are you available to stay for touch ups throughout the day of my wedding?

-‐Yes. This add on is booked in advance. If we are available, Jennie Kay and or her team is able to stay and provide touch ups to those who we have provided hair and makeup services to prior. The minimum stay time for touch ups is 1 hour. After the 1 hour you may add additional hours or half hours. The fee is hourly: $100 per hour. The time is rounded up to the nearest hour. This price is non-negotiable.

Should I wash my hair the day of or the day before?

-‐The night before is easiest for us to style if you’re having an upstyle (ie: fully up, half up half down, etc).

If I’m getting a blowout, how should I come for my services?

-‐Come with wet, clean hair. Do not put any products in your hair.

Do you offer on-location services for special events/occasions... or only weddings?

-‐Yes we are also available for special events and occasions as well. Please inquire with Jennie Kay Beauty via email -‐ include the date, location, services needed, and ready by time. Please know a minimum of 3 services must be performed to come on-location. Individual services will be done in the beauty parlour in Middletown.

My skin is very sensitive will I break out from your products?

-‐We only use the products that are infused with the highest quality of ingredients. We have tried and tested the products on Jennie Kay herself (her skin is a the most sensitive of sensitive skins!), We use our favorite skin moisturizers, primers and foundations Ait for each skin type. This is a reason we suggest doing a trial, incase your skin does not react well with makeup.

What products do you use?

-‐We love a little bit of everything , the newest and best of many line, as well as some makeup classics! Brands include but are not limited to: MAC, Makeup-‐Forever, Laura Mercier, Temptu Pro, NARS, Jennie Kay Cosmetics, BeneAit, and many others.

What is Airbrush Makeup?

-‐Airbrush makeup is another alternative to traditional makeup, however, it is not for everyone. If you would like to try airbrush makeup, we suggest you speak with your artist at your makeup trial. If you would like additional information, see our blog entry at: http:// www.jenniekaybeauty.com/blog/2012/01/airbrushmakeup/
