Two great summer products, by Stila & benefit

We’ve previously discussed the benefits and popularity of BB creams out there nowadays, and have discovered a new love for these products myself. BB creams, or “beauty balms” are essentially multi-tasking creams that are used disguise imperfections through their all-in-one properties of being a primer, foundation, sunblock, reduce the appearance of lines, provide skin protection.

Through these properties, pore size is diminished, fine lines and blemishes are disguised, and a smooth, seamless coverage is visible to the naked eye and camera.

A favorite in particular is ‘stila stay all day 10-in-1 HD beauty balm’. The product applies in a silky and blend able texture that matches skin-tones evenly and secretly. The best part about it is that it provides a dewy-appearance without the look of a “made-up” face. Follow up with a pink cheek, mascara, and a clear gloss and you’re ready for the day.

Another product to try? ‘Erase Paste’ by benefit cosmetics. This product features a brightening agent which blends with the pigment of your skin, ranging in three shades — fair, medium, and deep — providing a fool-proof match to any skin tone. Simply apply under the eyes, or disguise facial blemishes and unevenness. The brightening agent makes you appear awake and refreshed, and applies with a silky-smooth coverage. Take a look at a recent photoshoot we did with Erin McGinn photography where benefit’s erase paste was used :) !

Both are amazing products, have any of you used them? Any other products you all rave about!?

Ombre Lips

The ombre craze doesn’t just apply to hair these days. Open up any fashion magazine and you’ll see signs of ombre in fashion, makeup, nails, and accessories. Ombre makeup can be applied in either a bold or subdued look, and can add edge and dimension to your typical look.

The process is simple ; since ombre is a french word describing the transition of color from light to dark, and vice versa, the technique follows suit:

*You simply take a light shade and a dark shade (typically in the same color family), and apply one as a base color to your pout.

*Then, with your lighter shade, apply at the center-most of your kissed-lips, creating a “border-like” appearance from the dark to light (or light to dark) pattern that you choose. This look can also create the illusion of a fuller pout — which many of us would love to have!

You can keep this look simple, or add a more vivid touch — say by using a shimmered color at the center, do more than two colors, etcetera.

Max Factor has created a product called the “Flipstick” which makes this process even easier, offering two shades on either side of the stick, offering a base color and accent color, all in one.

Finish your pout with a gloss to create a shiny finish, or leave matte as is.

Will you try this makeup look?

We will be sure to try and upload photos of us trying this trend for you!
