Oxfords

A Fall ’11 trend that has carried into the Spring that we love is the oxford shoe. The oxford has been modernized in varieties of a small heel, a ballet flat/slip on version, and a typical flat oxford by various designers. We’ve chosen a few pairs we love

Sephora + Pantone Universe

Clearly we are on the same page as Sephora — duh! :) If you are an a avid roller of the JKBP Blog you know we just discussed the Pantone color of the year, Tangerine Tango, if not see here. We are so very excited to share this wonderful news with you. Always a lover of all things orange, I’m very excited for their launch of this line.

The line features Tangerine Tango EVERYTHING… and we mean everything!

As a limited edition line, Sephora has done a great job of creating such an expansive selection. Everything from makeup brush sets, to nail polishes, to blushes, to shadows to lip glosses, to makeup & travel cases, to faux lashes, to liners and tools. Orange & Red Lips Are IN

Red lips will never go out of style, and are a true classic in the beauty world. Naturally, an array of red and orange lips are in for spring 2012. Seen on the runways, designers have shown a variety of hues, in matte and glossed looks, that add a fun and romantic pop. Here are some great looks to try:

The Art of Mixing Prints

Have any of you been daring enough to try the trend of mixing prints? This seemingly mish-mashed-mix-matched sounding look can actually achieve quite a chic and fashionable look if done correctly.

Rules of thumb?
Although we’re mixing patterns, try and stick within the same family.
Following the color wheel also directs us to which colors can work quite well together. We’ve included a quite simple one, where the colors on either side of one another complement each others tones, as well as those across. Don’t use this as an actual ‘rule‘ per say, rather, play around with the colors, textures and tones.

Some patterns that go great together are:
polka dots & stripes
polka dots with leopard
color blocking & corresponding prints
florals with florals
large florals with leopard… the list is endless!

Another fun way to spice up your outfit is by adding a bright lip color to highlight the tones in your outfit. A thick cat eye liner can also incorporate a fun mod-look to a polka dot ensemble, or any for that matter.

You can also try this trend in the home, subtlety or more pronounced. The key is the color scheme.

Mixing prints shouldn’t be intimidating, it’s fun, busy, exciting, loud, and yet at the same time it all falls together nicely…

Tangerine Tango

What better way to channel Summer (with recent 70+ degrees in New England, it happens to be closer than we think!) than with a bright, cheery, loud and playful ensemble or makeup look? A color you’ll see this year worldwide is the Pantone color of the year, ‘Tangerine Tango’. What is a Pantone color of the year? It is a color shade declared by the Pantone company which is mass-adopted by various industries (print, textiles, paint, and etcetera).

Stiletto Nails..Love em or Leave em?

Stiletto Nails are showing up everywhere. A trend I am not sure I would try…but here at on the JKBP blog we like to discuss it all! I personally prefer my nails short & squared, a bit more practical and classic. However, some fashion fads seem to be more about being adventurous and crazy  than practical. Stars such as Lana Del Ray, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, & Beyonce, have been spotted with these daggers. Some more drastic and claw-like than others…

Peplum According to Mrs. Plumb

A trackback to the 80s look of shoulder pads and peplum waists, we are loving the peplum trend that has reappeared on the Fashion Week runways this season. Peplum is defined as a short skirt-like attachment at the bottom of jackets and blouses or waist portion of skirts, and dresses. Some may be hesitant to try this look, however, if correctly attempted it can add dimension and shape to your figure.

MAC Cosmetics will Launch a Marilyn Monroe Collection- Mac will release limited edition collection inspired by the iconic blonde bombshell. Marilyn’s noted style and beauty is a classic in this industry. It will include eyeshadows, liners, lip colors, and nail polishes. According to sources, the collection is expected in October.

Eyelure Katy Perry lashes- Katy Perry is known for her funky take on the classic pin-up look, however, the pin-up look is incomplete without a pair of full, buxom lashes. Perry has sworn by Eyelure lashes for her personal use in the past and has teamed up with the company to create her own line. She has various lengths and thicknesses and all are a must see. We have already ordered some in the Parlour and it is rumored they are nearing sell-out already due to popularity! Get ‘em while they’re hot ladies :)
